Anna, The Cupcake Lover

So, my darling little girl just LOVES cupcakes. For some of my fabulous friends, this is not to be confused with "cupcakes!" A while ago, I bought Anna the book called, Camilla The Cupcake Fairy. We like to try to do some sort of activity with some of the books she really shows interest in. For this book, we made a cupcake out of cardboard and tissue paper.

Here's how you make the cupcake:

We read the book, of course, and then started the project. This project did take a couple of days, as her attention was not very well focused on the cupcake holder. First, I drew two cupcake holders on a piece of cardboard. Anna decorated the cardboard cupcake holders until she was bored. I did actually finish the cupcake holders. Once that was finished, cut halfway up the bottom of one of the cupcake holders and cut halfway down on the other cupcake holder. This will allow you to put them together. Next, take some tissue paper and crumple it up in your hand to shape it how you like. We (I used the glue gun, and Anna helped secure the tissue paper) used a hot glue gun to secure the tissue paper cupcake topper. Next, we took a new color for the icing. We did the same thing with the glue gun and secured a shape we liked. Anna picked out silver and pink glitter glue for the sprinkles (she needed a little bit of help squeezing), and we shaped another piece of pink tissue paper (because we were out of red tissue paper) at the top for the cherry! TA DA! Enjoy!

Changes

This family has gone through many changes in the past couple of months. We have moved from Goshen, IN to South Bend, IN. We love our new house and neighborhood, Brad is closer to his job in Valpo, and I am closer to my new job down town South Bend.

I quit working at Oaklawn and began a new business. The business is called Creative Counseling, and I am in private practice. It has been a very long process and I didn't even realize the behind-the-scenes! Even though I haven't had working hours (in the beginning), I have been working my butt off trying to contact insurance companies. It is pure bliss when they actually contact you back. However, when they don't, it is extremely frustrating, as you cannot work until they call or email! It is amazing how many things have to be done and in a certain order to begin to actually see clients! Hopefully, I will hear back from some people soon so I can increase my clientel!

Peanut has been making the most difficult adjustment of all. We had to switch her day care. We absolutely did not want to switch her day care, but were left with no other choice. She still cries every morning when I leave, and she tells me every day, "I miss you when you leave." It's simply heartbreaking. I just want her to be happy, and I am hoping that she continues to make progress every day!

Holiday Season

The holiday season has begun! We had a fabulous Thanksgiving weekend! I had to work on Friday, but that didn't stop me from going shopping on Black Friday! Even though I had to work, it still felt like a nice, long weekend! Anna and I put up my mom's Christmas tree on Satruday, spent some time with Bradley when he wasn't working, and spent Sunday with my good friends Kelly and Jen (and their kiddos)! I am looking forward to the rest of this holiday season. I am not sure what is in the air or the water, but the season always makes me feel fabulous! The next post will be of our Christmas card that I created and uploaded to Shutterfly. I just love it! :o) Enjoy!

I love this season. It is my absolute favorite! Despite all of the problems we have had with the new house, that we are no longer getting, we have been able to keep positive spirits. We have been going to pumpkin patches and farms and painting pumpkins. Now, if only we can kick these day care germies! :o)

Neglectful

Many people have been asking why I haven't been posting... Since April. It's simple, I've been very busy. Am I really that busy that I can't post occasionally? Actually, this time I have been! Brad and I have been trying to purchase a home since 15, July 2011. This plan fell through, and we really don't have many options at this point. We are busy with school, job changes, and relocation. On top of all of this, we are busy with a two year old! It has been chaotic, but we have been managing.

So, in the spirit of missing out on many things, I will be posting some more up-to-date photos of our little girl! In the meantime, you can see her two-year-old party photos if you click this LINK! Until I get a little bit more time, I will definitely post some better photos! Hopefully, they will be house photos! I have decided to revamp the blog and give it a make over. I hope that this will do until things get in order! Cheers!

What the Wordle!?!?

So, I have discovered this new website called Wordle. It is basically a website that creates clouds of words. I have been having a lot of fun with it trying to create one for Peanut. Of course, I picked all of her favorites and chose black and a palette of pink colors. Silly? Perhaps it isn't extremely useful. But, it is fun, and I loved thinking about all of the things that help structure my daughter's personality! :o) Enjoy!

Like Mother, Like Daughter

Anna and I have been very busy lately! We have been painting, coloring, and creating many different hand made crafts! Anna has been busy painting her piggy bank, coloring pictures, and coloring monkey and giraffe door hangers for her new cousin, Mason. While, I have finally completed the pre-made scrapbook of Peanut's first year! Yes, I said "pre-made" and "first year." I thought I was going to be doing this great scrap book, but then I realized that there just wasn't much time for that! So, I did purchase a pre-made scrap book and I embellished some of the pages for a little more glitz! It looks SO fabulous, and I am SO pleased that it is finally finished! I also created this frame that will hold vertical and horizontal photos. I am very excited about how everything turned out!

Small Paul Diaper Cake

My loving sister told my Mom, "Tell those bitches to get busy!" regarding a diaper cake for her baby shower, referring to myself and my sister-in-law Amy. So, naturally, I made her a diaper cake. And, for the short amount of time I had, I feel as though it is stupendous! Narcissistic? Maybe a little, but just impressed that I got it done within a matter of a couple of hours. Here it is! I hope she likes it! :o)

New Details...

As it appears on the blog, there are some new details that I have included. You will notice that there is now a pink mandala in the right column titled, "Exploring Creativity." This is a new photo site that I have dedicated to Peanut's and my art work. I have been having a lot of fun with this. She makes so many different things in day care and at home with me, that I thought it would be good to separate it all so the beautiful images don't get overlooked in the regular photos!

There is also a new link in the "Photos" section in the right hand column as well. It is titled, "Project: Peanut's Bedroom." This is just another photo site that I created to again, separate photos so they don't get lost in the mix of ALL the photos I take of my little stinker!

Project Peanut's Room

It is up! Well, it has been up! I just finally posted photos! :o) Here is the final project up and hanging on Peanut's wall. I now think that I need to move the growth chart and put a tiara under her name or something. But, I bet I don't do that! ;o) Oh well! I like it, and think it looks pretty darn good! UPDATE: I have finally hung the letter banners in her bedroom... I actually did this on Tuesday night. I just haven't taken a photo yet! Oops! It is much cuter than I envisioned! :o) Thanks for checking it out!

Here it is! I finished Peanut's banners just moments ago. Here is an "A" and "ANNA" I can't wait to hang these up in her bedroom now! I will probably have to post a photo of that tomorrow night! Except, I will have to complete some homework first! :o)

Projects!

I have been ambitious lately... Yet again! I have been working on a couple of projects. My sister's Paul Frank baby shower is coming up, and I am in charge of the corsage. I decided to create one, as opposed to ordering one! I wanted it to be fun and add some Julius to it! So, here it is (I had been instructed to work with blue, red, and yellow. I does look far better in person!):

I have also completed a painting for Peanut's room. It is a bad picture on purpose, so you can see the shimmer! I will have to post what it looks like up in her bedroom!

And, finally, here is the beginning of a project. I am wanting to put Anna's name above her bed. I just completed the first coat of pink paint on the letters. I have one more coat of pink, a coat of shimmer, and then, they are going to be placed on some hanging pink banners. Sounds weird, but it is really gonna be cute!

Wow, where to begin!?! We had a great Christmas, and didn't have to make too many stops, which is always nice! Anna threw a little fit before opening her presents, but she ended up doing a good job after she was done, and opened up all of her gifts from Santa, all by herself (of course Mommy did help a little!)!

I took on a project during one of my two days off. My Mom had given me an off-white shelf/cabinet from her bathroom, as she has remodeled her bathroom! I wanted to paint it brown and put it in Peanut's bedroom. After four hours, three coats of regular paint, and two coats of spray paint because I gave up on the regular paint, it looks great!

I have also included a couple of photos of Peanut wearing my shoes! She is so funny! She loves this pair in particular, and wears them all the time. The scary thing, is that she walks quite well in them, and doesn't trip or fall. She is certainly Mommy's girl! :o)

As it should be noticed, I posted a little square on the right side of my blog called, "Pink & Green Mama." This blog belongs to a wonderful art teacher who has many fabulous ideas! I saw a post for felt food, and thought, "I can do this!" Mom has some play pans at her house for Anna to play with, so I made these eggs (There is some fluff in the yolk) and bacon for her to pretend with. I also made this cookie, which looks more like a Moon Pie! Oh well, it's the first time I ever made felt food! Below the food photos, you will see a cute little video of my cutie Peanut dancing to a singing snowman and dog! Cutie!

Busy Weekend

We were very busy this weekend! Bradley went to IL to pick up our "new-to-us" car; Cadillac Seville. It is very nice! But, Brad dropped us off at my Mom and Dad's house while he went to get the new car. We went to PetSmart with Mom, Jackie, Abby, Tank, Ian, Dylan, and Jackson to get Abby and Tank's pictures taken with Santa. I was glad for all of the animals there, because Peanut just loved the birds, dogs, "meow meows," hamsters, and the fish! After this, we went back to Mom and Dad's house to decorate Christmas cookies. This was also very fun! Anna was so sweet. She had her cookie in her hand waiting for Grandma to get some icing on her child-safe knife... Grandma must have taken too long, because Peanut started to eat her cookie! Then, the boys joined us. When Joe and Amy returned from shopping, Amy and my Dad (with help from Jackson and Dylan) made home made ravioli. Mmm, this was delicious! On Sunday, we had my parents and Brad's parents over for a small birthday gathering, as Bradley's birthday is coming up. I made him a Jonnie Walker Black Lable cake. It turned out pretty nice! Brad's parents couldn't make it due to the weather, so it was just my parents laughing at Brad and me playing Brad's present from me; Kinect!

Busy

First, I would like to say, "CONGRATS JEFF, NIKKI, AND BRADY!" on their new family addition! They have recently welcomed a new baby girl to their family! How exciting! We can't wait to meet her!

We have been very busy lately! Brad is teaching several classes at Ivy Tech and loving it! My class also started this semester, which always keeps me busy! Glad it's only an eight-week class! Only three more classes to go! Brad has been really focusing on his dissertation, and me, I have lost my motivation to continue my classes. I am still completing classes, but with the less sleep I get, the less interested I become in completing assignments. Anna's sleep patterns have changed again with daylight savings time, and she now likes to wake up at 4am. However, I have also decided to be evaluated by the state of Indiana to get a second master's degree. I am in the process of obtaining all of my paperwork at this point. We will see how that goes!

Peanut is learning so much all the time! She just had her 15 month check up, and she is doing great! She did not grow, but she has been very sick lately (She had an ear infection, upper respiratory infection, flu (vomiting), runny poo, and now teething (molars)!) and the doctor was not worried about her development. She is ahead on many things, and the doctor called her "Very smart" after Anna was able to tell her what several animals say! :o)

Too early to see Santa? Naw! We went yesterday, because the lines are non-existent! She hated every second of it!!! She screamed very loudly, but was able to calm down if I sat with her. So, it was either pay money for a screaming child photo or pay money for a calm, relaxed, yet still scared photo. I didn't want the screaming photo! :o) I can't upload the photo right now, so it will be up very soon! I was very excited that we saw Santa, that I couldn't resist putting up our Christmas tree before Thanksgiving this year! It looks fabulous in our house!

14 Months

Peanut is 14 months old. She is getting so tall and continues to be more and more sweet every day! She now says a ton of words and understands everything we say! She is saying approximately 25 words, she knows her belly, ears, eyes, and feet, and she will say "Moo" when you ask what a cow says and "Woof" when you ask what a puppy says. She can't quite say, "Oink," but she makes a funny grunt noise when you ask her what a piggy says. Aside from all of this, her new favorite word is "Abby," my mom's dog. She says it ALL the time! Peanut tends to like Abby best when Abby is tired and laying in mom's lap! That's when my stinker gets excited with Abby! :o)

We went to a pumpkin patch last weekend. She loved it! She was carted around in a wagon, had many pictures taken, and loved walking through the rows of pumpkins when she was out of the wagon! We picked out some mini pumpkins and gourds for decorations in our home, and we even picked out a pumpkin for Peanut. We recently painted it this week. Big Girl...

Peanut is using a big girl car seat! She has gained a couple of pounds and is finally able to sit in the big girl seat! No more carrying the heavy baby seat anymore! No more getting a dozen bruises on my leg from resting it in order to carry it! She is facing forward, which is not what I wanted. However, our seat belt was not long enough for her to face backwards. She really seems to enjoy it! I love seeing her looking out the window and pointing! It is the cutest thing!

Bumps & Bruises

Anna is walking all over the place! She basically goes where she pleases these days! However, she is very good about holding hands and accepting help when needed.

BUMP NUMBER ONE:
Bradley, Peanut, and I went to Ideal Beach a couple of weeks ago (pictures have not been posted, but will be soon). The baby was not sure about the lake or the sand. But, she did LOVE the baby pool. It was kind of deep for her (the water came up to her chest), so she held my hands the entire time she walked around. I was really surprised because the water was pretty cold, but she still loved it! Anyway, I let her hands go for literally one second (on dry ground), to get things gathered to leave and she trips and falls. She hit her forehead on the concrete, which swelled up pretty quickly. We got an ice pack, I gave her some Tylenol, and we had to have an incident report written up. Poor baby! She wanted nothing to do with the ice pack because it was so cold. However, once it was no longer freezing cold, she grabbed it and placed it on her forehead. Cutie!

BUMP NUMBER TWO:
I picked Anna up from daycare last Friday and noticed a mark on her forehead. I asked Ms. Susie what had happened, but she had just taken Ms. Rhonda's place and didn't know what had happened. I looked at her daily report form, which stated that Anna had been tripped over and she bumped her head on the swing set post. :o( She has been getting lots of love and triple antibiotic cream!

I hope that she doesn't get too many more bumps on the head!! The last thing we need is TBI!!

Sleeping Well

Well, it is safe to say that Peanut is sleeping very well through the night! It only took her one week to get used to Mommy not picking her up any more. She still wakes up around 5:30am, but that is just too early sometimes! She is responding well to me telling her to "Lay back down," and "It's still sleepy time." She lays back down, I pat her back for a minute, and she goes right back to sleep. She is so silly!

Sleep Training & Weening

Most of you might not know that Peanut was sleeping through the night at 3 months old! How fabulous! However, when daylight savings time hit, we were all screwed, and we have been ever since! Since April, she has been waking up approximately three to five times every night. Since she has turned one last week, and I am beginning the weening process, I decided that I would start weening at night and help retrain her sleep habits. I asked her doctor at our 12 month visit about how to do this. She informed me of the process she used: let baby cry for 30 seconds, go in her room and comfort her verbally and pat her back for one minute. If it continues let her cry for another 30 seconds and go in for three minutes this time. And, if it still continues, let baby cry for another 30 seconds and go in for five minutes. Peanut only woke up twice last night between 12am and 1am. The first time she woke up, she used up all of her time, but fell asleep during the five minute comfort time. The second time she woke up, she fell back to sleep during the three minute comfort time. It was so hard not picking her up and watching her climb up the crib with her arms stretched out crying, "Ma ma!" It broke my heart... There were more tears from me the moment she fell asleep, as I was anxious for her to wake up. I didn't want her to, I didn't want he to feel the anxiety of me not being there and not picking her up and not nursing. But, she did a very good job! I still woke up on occasion because the monitor was silent. If she doesn't wake me up, then I get nervous. But, I stayed in bed... awake. Kudos Peanut!! Hopefully tonight is as successful! :o)

One Month

Wow! Can you believe I haven't updated this thing in a month! It is not like Peanut has not done anything noteworthy! Because, she has been doing so much! So far, this summer, she has been to a petting zoo with Bradley and myself, she went to Louisville, KY with me at met my friends, she and I went to the Louisville Zoo, she and I have been taking Mommy and Me swim classes at Aunt Jackie's house (and LOVES the water), she has been eating big girl food, she has two teeth, she can identify her mouth and eyes, and she is walking all over the place! She is just so much fun, and she is definitely developing a sweet little personality as well! Recently, she began new daycare at Kingdom Kids. This is only her second week, but she seems to be adapting well. Her first week was a trial week, and we just received her confirmation letter that she will be able to stay! As always, everybody loves her!

Bradley and I have been very busy with other ventures as well. He is trying to finish up what should be the last year of his doctoral program. He continues to work hard on his dissertation, while I am just trying to stay on track with my doctoral courses as well! It has been difficult since Peanut was born because I am so tired at night to even feel motivated to do any work! However, I am going to try a new schedule and see how things work out! On top of school work, Bradley continues to work as adjunct faculty for Ivy Tech and I have been doing a lot more art work these days (one abstract painting for a friend, one pen drawing for another friend, and I painted my friend's nursery). I am starting to wonder how we find time to breath!

Peanut's first birthday is coming up, and we are excited! I am looking forward to making her two tiered princess castle cake and having family over for the celebration! I am sad that her first year has gone by so quickly! It is true what people say that time flies by!

Update: I will no longer be posting photos to Picasa. The photos will continue to be posted on the side bar. However, I have found a site that does not have a limited amount of storage. I have created another site at Shutterfly for photo viewing only. This will begin in August 2010!

Ten Months and Walking

Today, Peanut is ten months old. She woke up screaming this morning around 500am. I was a bit concerned because the only time she woke up in the middle of the night was at 430am. I walked through the dining room, and realized that Bradley left his phone in the kitchen. His alarm was going off. This was the only thing I could think of that would have woken her up. The reason this is all explained is because since she woke up so early, she was a bit crabby. She wanted to snuggle all morning, but I had to get ready for work. I sat down on the floor so I could show her I was close, but I had to put deodorant on. She distracted herself while I was doing this. Once I was done, (already in a standing position) she started fussing. I told her to, "Come here sweetie." And, she did just that! She took three very sturdy and amazing steps towards me and leaned in to fall in my lap! It was amazing! I was so proud of her! We went to the bedroom because Bradley was also getting ready for work, and we showed him too! It wasn't quite the same, but she did show Bradley about a step and a half. Watch out tables, chairs, and pugs! Here comes Peanut!

Independent Peanut

Our little Peanut is using a spoon all by herself! She does a great job with putting the spoon in the bowl and getting food onto the spoon! However, she gets VERY excited and puts the spoon to her mouth too quickly, which results in the photo below! She typically does very well when I help guide her. She knows that the spoon is supposed to go to her mouth. But, when there is no guidance, she feels the freedom and this makes her happy!

Miss Anna had her first experience in the pool this weekend! She loved it! She splashed and played in the water! We had one slipping incident, where I was actually holding on to her bathing suit, so she only slid along the pool on her side instead of falling. She immediately wanted out, but got right back in without being scared! Aunt Jackie said she would begin swim lessons as early as this summer! Watch out for this swimming beauty!

My First Mother's Day

My first Mother's Day was wonderful! On Saturday, Bradley, Peanut, and I went to Ron and Anita's house where we had a nice lunch, played, and visited Brad's Great Aunt Edith. Then on Mother's Day, I went to my Grandma's house and had lunch with my mom's side of the family. After that, we went to my mom's house, where I got to scrapbook (but didn't get much done because I spent so much time making a turkey out of hearts for one Thanksgiving Day picture) and played with Peanut. Bradley and I spent the night together curled up watching Celebrity Apprentice!

Anna was in such a great mood, all day! Did I already mention that she is finally saying "Ma ma"? Well, I have only heard her say it one time. All of the other times, she says it while whining... Mom has heard it, it's quite funny! Here are some photos from the weekend:

Vera Bradley Trip

Anna made her second trip to the Vera Bradley Outlet! However, this year, she was on the outside of my tummy! Last year, I was five months pregnant with her! She did an amazing job! She woke up at 3:00am, on her own (which I am still baffled by), slept for the trip to Ft. Wayne, woke up at 7:00am, and stayed awake until her next nap on the car ride home! When we got home, I had an amazing day off playing and exploring in Grandma and Grandpa Kindig's back yard with the little Peanut! It was such a gorgeous day! Grandma Kindig bought Peanut her first Vera purse! So far, she likes the tags and the strap. When she is a bit bigger, she can fill it up with her own goodies; rattle, snacks, pacy, etc. Can't wait till next year's trip when she is 1 1/2! That should be an experience!

We have our first boo boo. Peanut has been standing on just about everything. This includes a folding chair in our basement. I just knew this would be the item that hurts her, and it was tonight! She climbed on it like she always does. But, this time, she decided to reach her hand to the top of the chair, causing her to fall and pull the chair on top of her. Poor thing! Brad scooped her up as she cried. But, don't worry, this is not the loudest we have heard her cry!! She has a cut on her forehead, and after seconds, we noticed that it was bleeding. We cleaned it quick and put a bandaid on it. Then we noticed that there was blood on her pacy also! We checked her mouth and there was nothing there! After cleaning off her mouth, we found no other blood. Moments after we put the bandaid on, she was smiling again! Silly girl! She handled that very well! It was scary to watch that chair fall on our little baby girl!!

I thought it would be better that Peanut and I share a bathroom (obviously not for a while), so Brad took the bedroom bathroom, and I use the public bathroom. Easter!

We had a great first Easter with Peanut! We didn't have too much traveling to do, so her sleep schedule was not disturbed, and she was wonderful! Our Easter weekend began on Saturday with lunch with the Mitchell's. Peanut had already eaten, so she sat and played very nicely in her high chair while we all ate! She was very drooly on Saturday, which meant we had to replace her white shirt with a pink one, while the white one was in the dryer! Maybe there will be a tooth to follow soon! Afterwards, we went to the Kindig's house for dinner and an Easter egg hunt! Peanut did a great job, and found three eggs!! The boys found more; 1. They move much faster, and 2. I didn't want Peanut crawling in the wet grass! She liked to chew on the plastic eggs, just as she likes to chew on everything!

Easter morning, we helped her find her Easter basket. The Easter Bunny brought her three books; Opposites, Numbers, and The Adventures of Amelia Bedelia. She loves books, which is wonderful! However, she enjoyed the grass in her basket just as much! Peanut played with her books with Daddy for a while before he continued to work on his dissertation. Shortly after that, She and I took a nap!

When she woke up, she got all dressed up in her Easter Dress and we headed for Great Grandma's house! We played and showed everyone how Peanut is standing and taking steps (when holding my fingers)! The day was finished off with a bath and some Chinese food, because that is what I gave up for Lent!

We tried carrots last night! She had a hard time picking them up off of her tray, she made a funny face, and she even gagged one time. But, she did continue eating them, which is more than I can say compared to the Gerber Puffs! Although, she tried some banana flavored Puffs and seems to like those better than the apple ones!

First Trip to Indy!

Peanut made it to Indy and back for the first time! It was a long trip, but she did a great job in the car! Peanut and I went to Indy to see my friend Megan. She moved to New York a while ago and was in town for a wedding. I knew I had to get down there to see her or else I just don't know when I would have seen her next! Bradley stayed home to continue working on his dissertation. He had a lot of peace and quiet and completed most of what he needed to do!

I planned the trip so it would be around Peanut's nap times. Sure enough, she did wake up, but she did not fuss, but she did talk back and forth with me. It was great! Megan's mother-in-law had a lot of new toys for Peanut to play with, so she was really busy! On our way up, we made a stop at the farm to see grandma Anita and grandpa Ron. I noticed that it was a lot colder and rainier down south than it was up here! Next time we head to Indy, we will have to visit Hanna and the Goedeker's!! I know Peanut would love to meet those big puppies Jeff and Nikki have!

We tried some Gerber Puffs this past Sunday. Peanut puts everything in her mouth except for these puffs!! When I put them in her mouth, she spits them right back out, making a funny face! Yesterday, I put some on her high chair tray while I was fixing her dinner. She is finally putting them in her mouth herself, still making the funny face, but keeping them in her mouth long enough for them to dissolve! Even though she is not quite used to them, she still pops them in her mouth one by one, very slowly!! :o)

Growing Up!

Peanut is just growing up too fast! In the past three or so weeks, she has sat up and crawled. Last night, she decided to be a dare devil and stand up! She crawled over to me, put her hands on my lap, pushed her butt in the air, and moved her hands towards my chest for support. Obviously, I had my hands under her arms when she moved them to my chest. I just can't believe how amazing she is!

Once she stands up, she does the cutest little dance and jump! I can't wait to get that on video!!

Well, Peanut decided that she was going to crawl after all! That certainly was quicker than we thought! We just continued to put toys in front of her that we knew she would go after. Well, toys, the TV remote, and my cell phone! She loves them all! I helped her move her legs because all she was doing was moving her arms until she was laying flat on her tummy. I helped with the legs, and she seemed to figure it out! Good job baby!

For Anna's first Valentine's Day, we went to Uncle Joe & Aunt Amy's house. I bought her a shirt that says, "Sweetheart." It is so cute on her! I love Joe & Amy's furniture because it is black, and looks as though there is a black background when I sit Anna down!

Yesterday, Anna was baptized. It was held at the Crypt at Notre Dame. She was so wonderful thoughout the ceremony! She was quiet and really focused on the priest! We had a small party afterwards for Anna's family. It was nice to have our aunts and uncles at our home, as some havne't been out to the house yet! Unfortunately (leave it to us), we have misplaced her baptism candle. The parish secretary said that it was not left in the Crypt, and Bradley and I have looked everywhere! Hopefully, it will turn up somewhere! We have new photos under the February 2010 heading on the left! Enjoy!

I have a lot of photos on my Blackberry, but because I have a netbook, the Blackberry program cannot run on my computer. Bradley put it on his computer, and I can finally get the photos off of my phone and shared/printed out! I am very excited! This is a photo I took of Anna the first night we spent together at the hospital. I believe this might be 4am. I really didn't get much sleep at the hospital! Welcome Abigail!

Abigail (Abby) is the new puggy that my mom is attempting to adopt. Mom gets a two week trial period to see if Abby likes the home and if she gets along well with everyone... Especially Tank. Tank is not sure about this new puppy. I even noticed that Tank seems to be upset with mom. She would try to pet him, and he just walked away. Poor mom! There was one point where Tank was laying on Jackie's lap and Abby tried to join them. However, mom went upstairs, which caught Abby's attention and then caught Tank's attention, and they both jumped off the couch. Darn, that would have been a Kodak moment! Today was the first day that Anna decided to touch the dogs too! She seemed to like the texture. Poor Abby, she almost grabbed her fur, but I saved Abby before it was too late ;o) These puppies are both really good with the baby!! Welcome Abby!

PPA-26 Anything But A Card...

So, how about a box!?!? This is the favor box that I wanted to create for my wedding reception. However, I designed and handmade all of the save-the-dates, invitations/envelopes, and ceremony programs (my husband, mom, and MIL helped put the invitations together), and my mom created and handmade the rehersal dinner invitations.
Making the favor boxes would have been way too time consuming for our entire guest list! Making one box for this challenge only took me about 5 minutes. It is a simple origami project that I use frequently in my work. I am a therapist and work with children ages 5 to 18. For work, this box is typically used as 1. an anger box, 2. a container for emotions, and 3. personal thoughts. Although this is how I implement the box in my work, this box can be used for anything! One Sweet Challenge!

I am not a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. Nor am I an expert card maker! I just like spending time with my mom making cards and being creative! So, I decided to give a challenge a try! When reading the challenge (PPA25), and seeing the piece of chocolate, I immediately thought that I would like to try out "the cupcakes." That's right, "Big Bold Cupcakes" sizzlits were used to create this sweet treat! I also used Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, and Riding Robin Red papers, Basic Brown stamp pad, a Texturz plate, and Real Red ribbon all from Stampin' Up! Anna's first Christmas was super busy! We had a lot going on! We first celebrated Christmas on 20, December 2009 with Brad's parents, as they were going out of town for the holidays. We then spent Christmas Eve at my grandma Van Hove's house, Christmas morning at our house, and finally Christmas day at mom and dad's house. Anna seemed to do well with all of the commotion, and even slept better than usual! I went to see my friend Melissa last night, where Anna finally became fed up with the car seat! All that traveling really wore her out! Anna received a lot of fun gifts, and thank goodness, mostly clothes! We are not ready for all of the noisy toys yet :o) We went to my mom and dad's for brunch, where mom put the egg casserole in the oven and an hour later realized that she never turned the oven on...

As previously stated, Anna and I went to see my friend Melissa. Melissa has two children of her own; Lily and Billy. Billy is closer to Anna's age. It was great to see Melissa, and it was adorable to see Anna and Billy on the floor talking and watching each other!

Anna decided to scoot on 26, December 2009. She is not moving far, but she is getting her little legs up high enough to push and scoot herself a couple of inches. She will be crawling before we know it! She is also eating more and more cereal! We are up to eating a full ounce now! She tried some applesauce and seemed to like it, but not as much as her "Cereal with Fruit." Check out the "Christmas 2009" link for fun photos of Christmas! The Bath is Worse Than Shots

I took peanut to her four month doctor appointment today. She is growing wonderfully. She is now 13 pounds 14 ounces; so almost 14 pounds. She is also 24.5 inches long, and her head circumferance is 16.5 inches. She measured at 50% for each of her measurements. She had to have two shots and an oral vaccination. She let out one big cry and that was the end of that! She cries far more when she takes a bath!! The cutest part about the doctor appointment (yes, there was actually a "cute" part) was that when the doctor put the tongue depresser in her mouth, she began to chew on it. Why did she begin to chew on this? Oh, it's because the tongue depresser is grape flavored! She is just too cute! The doctor also said that Anna is teething. She didn't feel any teeth coming through, but that because of her chewing behavior and drooling, it has to be teeth. All in all, Anna is healthy, and we are looking forward to spending a fabulous first Christmas with her!

She's on The Move!

This weekend was kind of boring because we had to get homework done. But, it was quite eventful for Miss Anna! Anna turned 4 months old on 04, December 2009, so we tried some cereal. She was absolutely adorable! She ate about one ounce of it until she began to get impatient and the cereal was getting cold. But, she did seem to like it! Because she is so used to the sucking motion, it was funny to watch her try and suck on the spoon!

Not only is Anna eating cereal, she is also scooting a bit! She has been rolling over for some time now and even grabbing at the blankie she is laying on. On Sunday morning, she rolled on her tummy, and began to scoot forward! It was just wonderful to watch! She amazes us every second because she is always showing us how she is learning every day!

Rockin' Around The XMas Tree!

As usual, I put up our Christmas tree the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It was even more fun this year, as I had Anna sitting in her Boppy staring at me! Bradley picked her up and let her feel the texture of the plastic tree (yes, we have a faux tree). She just loved the feeling of the branches! We are now not sure if we should have done that, because we really don't want her to grab the tree on her own when she is playing on the floor!

Baby Fingers & Mommy Hair

Since the delivery of Anna, my hair has been falling out in the most terrible way! I have to clean out my brush on a daily basis. The size of my pony tail makes me very sad. I am always picking up hair off of the floors, and it is really starting to wear on me. Yesterday, it finally happened. I noticed that Anna's pinky finger was turning deep red. I looked closer, and there it was a mommy hair wrapped ever so tightly around her little finger. I panicked, attempted to get the hair from around her finger, called for Brad to turn the light on so I could see better, and finally got the hair from her pinky. I was so mad at myself! Looks like I will have to start vacuuming on a daily basis to avoid this problem!

Down To One Car...

For those of you who don't know, Brad was in a car accident a month ago. It was quite an awful experience for him. It was very rainy, and the woman that Brad hit did not have any break lights. So, when he finally realized she was stopped, it was too late. This woman did not have a driver's license or insurance, so we are left to pay for the damage. Brad is okay. He was very sore for a couple of days, but he is fine now. However, we have been down to one car for a month! This is driving us crazy that the car isn't finished yet... Not to mention that the police officer has not even written up the accident report... So disappointed in Elkhart Co. right now!

Anna's First Halloween

We had a very busy Halloween day! First we went to spend the early afternoon in Winamac, IN with Brad's parents. We had a nice lunch, played Wii, and Grandma and Grandpa Mitchell spent time with Anna. Then we headed to Joe and Amy's house in Argos, IN. Joe cooked dinner and the boys went trick-or-treating. We did not go, as we thought Anna was too small and the air was too cool! Brad took a short nap (he was in a car accident the day before, and was tired and sore) while Grandpa Jeff passed out candy to trick-or-treaters. Anna and I watched from inside. When we weren't checking out all the neat costumes, Anna and I were playing and talking on the floor. It was a good first Halloween! Two Months Old!

Anna turned two months old yesterday! She is doing various new things! She is "talking" or cooing at people with a big smile when they talk to her. I used to think it was a coincidence, but she does it all the time. I love it; it's like having a little conversation with her! She has been slowly figuring out how to use her pacifier. This past week, she has mastered it, and self soothes this way. She is also lifting her head more and more. However, she doesn't like to be on her stomach for very long, and tends to suck on the blankie she is laying on... silly girl!

Various Events

We have had quite a lot going on in the past week. I went back to work, Anna started daycare, Brad had a conference in Indianapolis, I had an exam on Friday, and as always, Brad and I had homework to do! The great news is that I passed my exam for IN state licensure as a mental health counselor. I am excited about this, as it has been a very long process! I went back to work last week and it was just as I suspected... difficult. After being off for so long, it was hard trying to become motivated and get back into the swing of things.

Since I went back to work, Anna had to go to daycare! So far, she is doing very well. She has a little three month old baby that she can "talk" to all day! Rachel (daycare facilitator) said that Anna had adapted very well. That is what I was most concerned about, but every day I pick her up, she seems to be content! So far, we have been very pleased with our choice!

Anna is doing more and more things every day. She has begun blowing bubbles with her mough, she smiles constantly, coos at us all the time, follows objects, and she likes to look in the mirror. Last week, Anna began to self-soothe. She has been sucking her fist, so we implemented the use of a pacifier. However, one day last week, she found her thumb. It was kind of cute because she doesn't have the sucking down, but we immediately took that out of her mouth! We don't want that kind of orthodontic bill in ten years! She is simply adorable, I just can't believe how much she changes and tries each day!

Brad, Anna, and I went to an open house in Winamac, IN for all of our Winamac family and friends to meet Anna. This was Anna's first trip to Winamac. She did very well with the long drive, and she also stayed awake for the whole open house for everyone to see her.

I just had to post this photo of Anna. First of all, it is the biggest smile I have been able to take of her, and second, I just feel like this is a spitting image of my grandpa Kindig! :o)

As you can see, this little girl is getting bigger! I went to a lactation support group, where I was able to weigh her. She is now 9lbs and 1oz! Sometimes she will only eat for five minutes at a time, which means she eats every hour. However, sometimes I worry that she is not getting enough milk. All I have to do is think about how much she is growing, and I feel better!

One Month Old

Our precious baby is already one month old. People always told me that the time I was home from work would fly by; they were right. Some days it feels like forever, but others seem to get away from me, and nothing gets accomplished! She is just wonderful! We have placed her on her stomach a couple of times, and she moves her hind legs a lot, and has turned her head from one side to the other. Her little neck muscles are very strong! Her umbilical cord fell off very early, she has had her first doctor's appointment, she has gained weight and seems to grow every day, she is trying to self-soothe with a paci, she is taking a bottle, and this past week, she has begun to coo at us. Anna has had several visitors at the house including Amy Kindig, Dave and Becky Kindig, Kim and Mike Osmanski, Grandma and Grandpa Kindig, Grandma and Grandpa Mitchell, and Casey and Adam Northcutt. Anna has also made a trip up to see her new friends at the Notre Dame Archives!

Not all nights are peaceful though. There have been a couple of nights where she has been very fussy for several hours and nothing seems to calm her down. This gets frustrating, but oh well, it is going to happen! This past week, I was sick and had a fever of 102. It was difficult caring for her because I just felt like sleeping! Mom came over to help out for one of the days that I had a fever, and slept for most of the day... I felt so guilty about that!

Bradley and I have not really had a night to ourselves in a while. We went to our friends' wedding tonight, and even though I was worried about how many bottles of breast milk she had left, it was still a good time! It is always nice to have some alone time every now and then... However, what did we find ourselves talking about... Anna :o) Congrats to Brooke and Joe on their new life together!

Brad and I had a doctor's appointment on Monday morning at 8:40am. It was just a routine checkup. We both went back to work, and around 11:30am, my Braxton Hicks contractions became longer, stronger, and closer together. I called Brad a couple of times telling him that these contractions were different and that I would track them. He picked me up around 3:oopm from work, we went home, and called the doctor!

The doctor sent us to the hospital, where we were not quite admitted yet. The nurses said that my contractions were strong, but I was only dialated 2cm. They almost sent us home, but decided not to because of how strong the contractions were. I was at 2cm for several hours, which was terribly uncomfortable because of the contractions! 14 hours later (from 11:30am) Anna was born. She was 7 pounds, 1 ounce and 20 inches long. She is a beautiful, healthy baby, and it was all well worth it!

Tonight, Dad, Jackie, [Anna], and I went to see Gretchen Wilson at the 4-H Fair. It was pretty fun! We were kind of worried about the weather, but it was really only misty, not rainy. It was quite funny though because we were entertained by all of the people who were struggling to walk in the mud! Some people wore high heals, and others just took their shoes off! Good stuff!

I have been inspired to create a blog! My mom had asked me to create one for her, and I thought, "This is kind of fun!" So, I created my own! What better time to set up a blog than now being 8 and a half months pregnant! This will let family and friends keep up with all sorts of fun that is going on in our lives!
